Yummy, no?
So I know you're dying to see the outside, too, right? Especially the white Spanx girdle contraption which makes me feel really sexy? Here you go:
Sexy, no?
Well, let me just say it's a pretty powerful piece of fabric.
Because when I unleash the beast, this is what you see:
My poor tummy. The surgery was laparoscopic, which means
they made several incisions and slid their tools inside to sew
the mesh patch over the hole.
(That is tape and cotton packing over my belly button)
If that doesn't scare you, look at the side view.
Me in all my glory. Yech.
Anyone have any maternity tops I can borrow?
Anysurgery, thank you all for your love, care, concern, emails, calls, flowers, fruit arrangements, prayers, meals, and positive thoughts. I am off painkillers as of last night (let's cross our fingers I can stay that way), and am just taking Motrin and Extra Strength Tylenol.
Okay, back to bed for me. I'm almost done reading The Alchemist. Have a slew of others behind it. My mom is here helping out with the hooligans for a few days, thank goodness.
Should I do a giveaway for my girdle? Who wants it? I don't look half bad when it's on....

So glad you are recovering nicely nad have mom around to help out. You rest. OH gotta love the air.. that is why you are swelled because they cannot get all of it out at the end..but it will come out trust me.. In the most embarrassing ways at the most inopportune moments lol
Thanks for the visual aids... my nursey side loves some innards.
Sounds like you're doing ok...
And even with the bloat, you're still skinnier than me.
So glad you're better!!! I've been thinking of you non-stop and sorry that I can't be there to help out.
I am so glad to hear that everything went well. I had laprosopic surgery in junior high to remove an adhesion. I will never forget that bloated gassy feeling. I was a mess for a couple of days and then I had to wear stretchy sweat pants to school for a few days. So embarrassing! And I agree, you are still a skinny little thing even with the bloat.
One of the odd things that I remember is that my belly button never looked quite the same. It does have a cute scar in it though! That was also back in the day before dissolving stitches. I found random stitches in there for quite some time!
Ugh, I remember after I had laparoscopic surgery, and the stupid air bubble feeling. I was in bed all weekend trying to find a comfortable position. But this too shall pass. And you're "swelling" is smaller than my every day tummy.
Glad you're well enough to write, to tweet and to read! ;-)
Glad the surgery went well! The bloating will be gone in a few day and you will be feeling back to yourself in no time.
Just remeber to wrap yourself in pillows when the girls come in to "take care of you". 4 year old legs can be dangerous even when they don't mean to.
Glad your surgery went well and that your mom is helping out with the kiddos!
Enjoy your time by yourself! And I hope you are not in too too much pain...
HOT mama with that girdle on...lol.
Woo-hoo!
;)
((HUGS)) sending many good healing wishes your WAY!
if it makes you feel any better, your stomach is still flatter than mine
love ya
get well soon
You still look way hotter than me. So glad that you are on the mend.
Oh Erin ... my goodness what an ordeal. My love and good thoughts to you. :-) I am so glad you have help there for a bit and you heal quickly. *hug*
My poor friend who had over 7.5 lb each twins has a massive hernia which causes her to currently still look pregnant. :( Glad you are getting better.
You can send it to me to wear at the wedding! lol
In other news. I like your sink.
Yay for good moms who come to help. Enjoy your books. GET REST! Take care of yourself. Good for you getting off the pain meds.
Love you!!
Oh Erin, your tummy is still flatter than mine Lol!
You look great and I'm so glad you still have that wonderful sense of humor when writing about it.
Get well soon and when you're off the medication, wine helps :-)
On a good day, my belly is bigger than that. And I am definitely not pregnant!
I hope you recover quickly and easily.
You are one talented lady and dedicated blogger, getting those photos while you were under. Amazing. Looks like lots of holes! I thought they just did like 2-3 holes for laparoscopy. You still look pretty skinny to me!!
Oh no! So glad to hear things went good and the surgery was a success. I have to say you do have a flat tummy! Sending you lots of get well wishes :)
You're one strong woman. And I don't know what you're talking about. You look great to me. As soon as you're all healed you'll be right as rain. Hope your recovery is swift my dear. xoxo
Your surgery looks ouchy and I don't envy you the scars, but I agree with some other comments: you look great. Wishing you a quick recovery so you can be up and jazzercizing and chasing those girls again before you know it!I would lend you my maternity tops if I didn't need them myself. ;0)
You'll be tap-dancing soon, it looks like to me ;)
Sorry you're of the painkillers, tho....
Like I said before, I'm glad everything went well. It sounds like you're recovering nicely. Enjoy your books!
Uhm, I probably could have used a warning about this post. I'm squeamish that way!
I'm glad you're doing well. Been thinking aboutcha, and yes, I do have shirts you could borrow. Just lemme know if you need them! Healing vibes headed your way!
I'm glad your surgery went well and that your on the road to recovery!
I was going to say that your stomack is still flatter than mine, but I see that seems to be the consensus from all the other commenters! I need some lapo lypo. Hope you are feeling better soon!
Oh my, Erin!! Those first two pics are quite frightening! I'm so glad that everything went well and you're on the mend.
Your belly made me smile. Reminded me when I was full of air after my C-section...the whole situation happened rather quickly and I was so panicked that I didn't ask a lot of questions; fear had me in a comatose state. Anywho...I just remember the nurses continually asking me if I was passing gas after the procedure, in order to "release the air." Aw, the joys of motherhood, no? ;)
At least your wounds will heal. I hope you didn't wake up with that thing in your throat again... ??
Feel better friend... I'm praying for you.
Cool "visual aids." Most important thing is you had the surgery to fix a problem and are on the road to recovery! :)
Your post-surgical tummy is soooo MUCH flatter than mine! Sending lots of love, hugs and healing energy ... you may borrow my fat girl clothes (everything I wear needs to accommodate what seems to be my 'permanently pregnant belly').
Take good care of yourself, Lovey.
xoxo, Lori
You're the only person I know that can pull off still looking cute while wearing a girdle and showing off post surgery scars ;-)
I hope you feel better soon. And believe me, you don't really want those maternity clothes back!
Sheesh! But I am glad you shared. Unrelated, I love the look of your bathroom.
Seriously though, I hope you recover nicely and am glad to hear you took yourself off the powerful stuff. I did the same both c-sections as soon as I got home from the hospital.
Glad you are Ok! Seriously though how does all this happen to you and I seem to miss it - man, I could use the girdle.
awwww. looks positively awful. but at least you have a good sense of humor about it all! my surgery wasn't laparoscopically… i had about a 8 inch gash. hope you can stay off the pain meds and will be back on your feet. embroider the girdle and sell it on etsy!! if you use vintage/found embroidery… you will maybe get more cash!
UGH. That makes my whole tummy hurt. So glad you are doing well, though.
So glad you are on the mend! Many (very gentle) hugs. I hope you continue to heal quickly.
And my tummy hasn't been as flat as yours since I was 12. And certainly not now, when at 14 weeks with the twins I could pass for 20 weeks.
Wow! Glad I waited until the afternoon to catch up on blogs! Those first couple of pics would have been a doozy with my morning coffee!!! LOL!!!
On a serious note, I'm so glad you are doing well. Soon the swelling will be gone and you will (hopefully) be back to your healthy old self. Well...not OLD...but...you know what I mean!!!!
<3
Wow, so looking forward to the chicken I just threw in the oven.
Visual aids rock.
If it makes your tummy feel any better, I barely noticed the bloat thanks to your rocking backsplash and sink/bowl/cool faucet. Gorgeous.
Both you and the bathroom. XO
You still look so thin!! Here's to moms who can come and help out. It must be kinda nice to get to catch up on your reading! xo
I've had a few surgeries myself, including hernia, so I know of what you speak. It's wonderful that it went well and that you are on the road to recovery. Enjoy those meds.
(((Erin))) No FUN!
I wish you a speedy recovery. As for maternity clothes, that ship sailed for me tong, long aog ;)
So glad you are doing so well!!
Hi Erin;
Well the hernia thingy place looks great.....well scary a little bit....but you look great. Love the girdle. Accessories make the woman, don't you think? Yea they sooooo do!
Ok, seriously, I'm so happy you got through that ordeal with flying colors and you're up and around (sorta). Love your sense of humor about it all. You're a trooper for sure. So get better quick. We are all waiting for more good stuff to read!
Big HUG,
Terri
You know what? I don't think your tummy looks that bad in the pictures. Perhaps it's because your toned arms (JEALOUS) distract from other areas.
Also! I like your bathroom sink!
So glad the surgery is over. Keep taking it easy. Thinking of you!
Aren't you relieved that it's over with? So sweet of your mom to help out while you recuperate. Take your time...milk it for all it's worth. Maybe you can get your mom to stay there for at least a week?
Love the actual surgical pictures. Does it make you squeamish to see your insides?
Wow, that must've been some hernia, mine was done through my belly button, and you couldn't see a thing.
You will feel better soon, K?
Sending love and rest your way. xoxo
I had very similar surgery done for my hernia in my belly button. It turned out to be a really great day off work, believe it or not. They gave me a spinal block (ie - heavy duty epidural) so I was actually awake for the surgery, which was an odd feeling. Anyway, good luck in the recovery!
Oooh Erin! That's HAWT!!! I want your used girdle! Can you promise it will take me from a lush size 14 down to about a 4? I'm so OK with that. ;-D
I'm glad you're feeling better and keeping us up to date on your progress. I hope you continue to heal perfectly and suggest lots of baggy clothes. I mean it's not like you're going to the opera. If you ran around in your underwear because you are maternity clothing-less, would anyone really care? Well, underwear and girdle, I guess.
wow, I am sorry. I hope your recovery goes well, your belly looks painful but you are still a sexy momma
You are still beautiful no matter what. <3
I'm sorry I haven't been around online lately, but I have surely been thinking of you!
You'll be good as new soon!
LIOB, favorite! xoxo
I remember that air from my appendectomy... ugh. Hang in there. Nice girdle! :-)
Seriously - bathroom sink? LOVE!
Enjoy your reading time!
-Ally
oh sweet girl...(you really still look skinny to me even if you don't FEEL that way...HUGS)
Hope it heals very quickly and you're back to your old self...very very soon. (You have to "guest" on my blog when you are all better!)
You'll be back to normal in no time - try to "enjoy" your rest! Feel better soon!!!
glad glad glad you're doing - well - OK! The laproscopic surgery is nutty because of all that gas. I had my gall bladder and appx out at the same time. 5 little incisions. And holy. bloat!
Keep resting, girl!!
I'm so glad that you're okay! I was tweeting you but forgot to email! Good to know that you are being taken care off too. If it was me, I'd save that thing for dresses and bloaty days to boost your self esteem lol
I'll take your bloat and trade you my regular stomach.
Seriously, I hope you're feeling better soon, Darlin'.
Rest. Rest. Rest.
I'm sending prayers and blessings your way for a full and speedy recovery.
I left you a little message at Ash's today for when you're better.
As all the previous 207 commenters have said, your bloated stomach is way flatter than my regular one. Glad the surgery went well.
xoxo
First, I am about to vomit. I don't do blood & guts! yikes. glad you are recovering and I just want to say, IF that is what you looked like 6 mo preggers- you suck! Dang chick, you are tiny. I was HUGE! anyhoo, just had to give you a hard time!
xoxo
ps I have turned on 2 other schools to Terra Cycle!!!
I am following your blog regularly and got great information. I really like the information about the pregnancy you have given. Thanks a lot for sharing.
breastfeeding clothes
Ouch! So thankful the surgery went smoothly. Praying you have a quick recovery!
And six months preggo, what? That's what I look like when I'm PMSing or 5wks 4day pregnant LOL.
I so did not need to see those pictures;)
Hope recovery is going well!
That can't be six months pregnant with twins!
Hope you make a speedy recovery!
Wishing you a quick receovery! Glad to hear you are doing better! :)
I had no idea you had surgery. *bad bloggy friend* I'm glad you're recovering...and off painkillers. That's always a good sign. Your "6 month preggo belly" is smaller than my left thigh. You look great except for all the little stitches and such. Hope you're healed up ASAP!! Get lots of rest!
Erin - you are too funny. I do NOT want your girdle (in the event you chose to do a giveaway).
Seriously though...I hope you recover quickly and manage to enjoy this enough to soak up the books you are reading.
Love you,
Michelle
@mmangen
Honey, I know you're not feeling great and all. But...you're still hot.
Oh, COME ON! You're still skinnier than I am on my best days. And you're mom to twins! How is that fair? ;) Seriously, I'm glad you are recovering swiftly and could use the extra time catching up on reading (although I'm sure it would've been better without having gone through surgery first). Oh the prices we pay for some 'me' time, huh? Hang in there!
Eeek! Sorry you needed surgery.
But lady, if that's what you looked like 6 months pregnant, I'm super, super jealous.
I kept waiting for the pics of the big tummy. I hope you are better. When i had my gallbladder removed, the air was painful for me. Farting was such a sweet relief.
OMG. I had lapro to have my gallbladder out. And that gas they pumped into my belly? Wound up trapped under my shoulder. For like two weeks. Hell. It was hell. I so hope this doesn't/didn't happen to you.
We have matchy-matchy scars. But my belly wouldn't even FIT into your girdle.
Hope you're well on your way to better!
